The seed delivery is carried out via a mechanical or, as an option, a fully electrically driven metering system guaranteeing an exact and even seed flow from 2 - 400 kg/ha. Three metering cassettes are available for different kinds of seed - this guarantees exact application rates even at high operational speeds.
These cassettes allow for a quick, simple and tool-less exchange - no matter whether the seed tank is full or empty.

The seed hopper is easily accessible for filling. The arrangement of having the seed hopper near to the tractor provides additional weight on the rear axle of the tractor to aid traction. Also, as the seed hopper empties, the reducing weight does not have such as big an affect on the sowing depth. 

One innovation, interesting for many farms, is the option on the 12001-C and 15001-C models to place fertiliser down together with the seed into the seed furrow. For this purpose, the seed hopper is divided and can be filled 2/3 with seed and 1/3 with fertiliser. If no fertiliser application is required, the hopper can then be completely filled with seed to increase output. Metering is carried out via two Vario gearboxes which can each meter seed rates of 2 to 400 kg per hectare.

In order to ensure a very smooth coulter run, and thus an exact placement depth, AMAZONE also uses on the Citan, the new RoTeC+ Control coulters with Control 25 depth guidance rollers that have a coulter pressure of up to 55 kg directly at the point of seed placement. For the optimum seed embedment, the models can be equipped from choice with either the Exact harrow or Roller harrow. The Roller harrow can be pressurised up to 35 kg per roller completely independently from the coulter.

Compact both on the road and in the field, the Citan folds in for transport in just a few seconds. Amazingly, even the 12m and 15m wide models fold down to a 3 m transport width.
