Since when do the AMAZONEN-WERKE exist?

The AMAZONEN-WERKE were founded in 1883 by Heinrich Dreyer but even before that several generations of the Dreyer family had been involved in the manufacture of agricultural machinery. As craftsmen they produced grain cleaners and carts to order. The effects of the industrial revolution persuaded them to move to the serial production system.



Which generation of the Dreyer family is directing the AMAZONEN-WERKE today?

From the beginning the AMAZONEN-WERKE are a family owned enterprise. Following the founder Heinrich Dreyer sen., his sons Heinrich Dreyer jun. (from 1927) and Erich Dreyer (from 1929) managed the enterprise. Their sons Klaus Dreyer and Dr. Heinz Dreyer followed in 1958 and their sons Christian Dreyer (since 1994) and Dr. Justus Dreyer (since 2005) are the general managers today. They are directing the company in the 4th generation.



Why is it that the name „AMAZONEN-WERKE“ was created?

On the occasion of an exhibition in Bremen Heinrich Dreyer was awarded a bronze medal for his newly designed grain cleaner. When looking for an attractive name for the successful machine, his friend, the village school teacher Klingemann suggested to give it the heroic name AMAZONE. This name proved to have such a commercial appeal that in 1915 the company was renamed in AMAZONEN-WERKE and later all products received the name AMAZONE.

Which are the production sites of AMAZONEN-WERKE?

Besides the main factory in Hasbergen-Gaste near Osnabrück, there exist six additional production sites. Since 1958 AMAZONE produces in Hude (near Oldenburg; today two sites) and since 1970 in Forbach/France near Saarbrücken. In 1998 the factory BBG in Leipzig was taken over. Since 2006 with the majority holding of GAG Eurotechnik in the Russian Samara the markets in Russia and the neighbouring countries are supplied with the full range of AMAZONE machinery. On 9th November, 2007 the AMAZONE group opened their youngest site in Tecklenburg-Leeden.

In total AMAZONE has approx. 1.500 employees.

Worldwide the AMAZONE Group is successfully present and within reach. Besides the seven production sites there are subsidiaries in Great Britain, France, Poland, Hungaria, Ukrania and Serbia. Beyond it AMAZONE has a world wide sales and service network and cooperates with more than 70 importers.

How high is the AMAZONE export share?

Worldwide activities, a close sales network and the continuous exoploitation of new markets resulted in an AMAZONE export share of approx. 80 % for AMAZONE.

The AMAZONEN-WERKE are specialists for the "Intelligent Crop production" with the optimally matched components fertilising technology, plant protection technology, soil cultivation and sowing technology. In addition AMAZONE produces efficient municipal machinery with the main area green management and winter service spreaders.

The end users for agricultural and municipal machinery are mainly small, medium, however also large farms, farm cooperatives, contractors, machinery syndicates, landscape gardeners and communities.

What is the AMAZONE-ACTIVE-Program?

Within the frame of the ACTIVE program various events like seminars, courses of training, training programs all around the "Intelligent crop production" for customers, dealers, employees take place in regular intervals. This enables the customers to get acquainted, for example, with the latest technologies and methods and to receive an expert advice. Besides the communication centres in Hasbergen-Gaste, Hude and Leipzig ACTIVE sites are available in Neumünster, Koblenz, Gottin, Gablingen and Altheim. In addition there are ACTIVE facilities in the subsidiaries in Méré (F) and Harworth (GB).

How does the AMAZONE-fertiliser advisory service work?

For research and development AMAZONE has an own fertiliser spreader test hall. Here the setting charts are created which can be also recalled in the Internet, by e-mail, fax of phone in many languages. With the aid of a specially established comprehensive data base actual setting figures for the lateral distribution and application rate for the AMAZONE fertiliser spreaders can be asked for for all kinds of fertiliser. In addition an advisory service and laboratory tests with the help of fertiliser samples are offered.



Why do the AMAZONEN-WERKE carry out crop production tests?

The AMAZONEN-WERKE are involved with numerous cropping projects and tests in the most different regions all around the "Intelligent crop production" in order to continuously improve the products and the service and to increase knowledge and competence. In this context cropping results from the various methods are analysed. The results are directly transferred into the development of practical implements and optimised concepts. These research activities are the basis for an intensive contact with the partners and the transfer of knowledge between agriculture, science and industry.



Where do the AMAZONEN-WERKE run trial areas?

AMAZONE co-operates with numerous agricultural establishments as well in Germany as also in whole Europe. Just in Germany the total area is more than 1.000 ha. Additional areas are located, for example, in France, Great Britain, Russia and Danmark.



Which awards did the AMAZONEN-WERKE receive already?

Since foundation, the AMAZONEN-WERKE have been awarded again and again for their innovative and pioneer feats. Just on the occasion of the last six AGRITECHNICA-exhibitions they were awarded with 18 gold and silver medals in total. Thus, AMAZONE is the most innovative company within the entire industrial sector.

Every year more than 1.5 mio sessions on the German page www.amazone.de are registered, worlwide all home pages are accessed to more than three million times.



How can I get informed about AMAZONE-machinery?

For information all media such as, for example, detailed leaflets, posters, DVD, brochures, advertisement, press information etc. are available. Also on the AMAZONE home page you will find comprehensive information material, such as, e.g. leaflets or operation manuals for the machines.
